Vogue: Photographer Gillian Laub Sees Her Family Portraits as a “Microcosm of America”

Gillian Laub has a long history of photographing everything from the style of ex-Hasidic women to the Election Day “cookie count” at a Pennsylvania bakery, but her most recent project, Family Matters—which is the title of her book as well as a show at New York’s International Center of Photography (ICP)—is more personal than any that’s come before it.
